Fears & Phobias

Fear is a natural human response, part of our brain’s defence system, designed to keep us out of harms way with the ‘fight or flight’ response. A phobia on the other hand is an irrational fear of an object or situation that in reality poses little or no danger. Phobias can lead to strong avoidance behaviour, anxiety, loss of control and even panic, negatively affecting our enjoyment of everyday life.

Phobias are extremely common and wide ranging, however, whether its a fear of flying, insects, heights, needles, blood, dentists, social situations or even something less well-known, they can be dealt with effectively using hypnotherapy.

Phobias are linked to our subconscious, so hypnotherapy can help us identify the root cause, re-evaluate past events and change our emotional reactions to them, allowing us to ‘let go’ of the phobia, free to enjoy a full life.

“The Recording’s that Jan gave me to listen to between sessions were fantastic and I was able to listen to them on the plane, I particularly found them useful for take-off when I am at my most nervous. My family whom I travelled with said they could really see a difference in me and I can honestly say that I even enjoyed my flight coming home, something I never thought I would be able to say! Jan was extremely professional, as well as being empathetic to my fears. I would not hesitate to recommend her.”
